California Days

Our second adventure in California was Happy Hollow. Since it is always a HUGE hit for Zoe, I wanted to see what Evan and Grace would think. Every time we got in the car, Zoe would say "happy hollow?".

The first thing you see when you enter is a carousel...one of Zoe's favs. The last three times Evan has been on a carousel, he enjoys it until it starts moving. Once it moves, he is clawing at the person holding him to get down, or he is trying to leap onto the person's lap next to him. BUT, maybe it was Zoe, or maybe it was because he is older, but he enjoyed this one...moving and not moving! Then we were off to the dragon train. Zoe is big on patting...so, she gave evan lots of pats throughout the trip.Grace was also a big fan of the gentle dragon ride.Next up was the ladybugs. I don't think Zoe had been on this one before, but with her older cousin there to ride with her, she got to check it out. Kate took 685 pictures during the 5 minute ride to distract herself from being nervous. Because of all the pictures, you can see how Zoe is at first very into the ride and enthusiastic about smiling at her adoring fans (aka all of the parents watching their kids), then she is bored, then she is ready to abort the mission and starts trying to figure out how to get the belt off. This is one during the happy times of the ride.
Evan even rode a roller coaster! I asked him if he wanted to go after he watched it go around a couple of times, and he said that he did. When we got in, he looked at me and said, "Mommy, this is going to be CRAZY!". And, yes it was. I'm not a huge coaster fan, and I thought it went a little bit faster and bumpier than anticipated for a kiddie coaster. Evan sat upright thru the first drop, but after that, he wrapped his arm around me. I was proud of him for keeping his eyes open the entire time, and after we were done, he told Aunt Kate and Grammy that he would not be riding that ride again.Time for lunch!and time for Grace to check out Zoe's stroller...she liked and it so did Evan, so clearly that means I should get a Bob duallieand then some games of hide and seek around the tree for Evan and Zoeand off to the petting zoo, but the favorite part for Evan and Zoe was not a single animal that they saw. It was the cave and water fall. They would run in and out of the cave and yell at the waterfall. Grammy was nice enough to show Grace some of the animalsall the excitement was a bit much for Grace...she was the first to cash out
