Apple Orchard

Since it cooled down from 150 degrees to a pleasant 80 this weekend, we decided to enjoy a very fall-ish activity, going to the apple orchard. this one was recommended by evan's daycare, and i was not disappointed! rows and rows of trees with perfect apples, and they had a store that sold apple cider, apple butter, honey (? no idea why this was mixed in with all the apple stuff but it looked so good we bought some!), apple cider slushies and a mum to put in our front pot! i was pretty excited about their other fresh fruits and vegetables from their gardens, but bret must have noticed the look in my eye because he steered me straight to the car : )!

learning what a good apple looks like. this lesson didn't hold - they were ALL good in evan's eyes. SOO many apples to choose from...such little arms and hands! this could be the theme picture of our trip to the apple orchard. "this apple looks nice, but OH, that one looks pretty great too".
he worked very hard to get this apple down
but it is easily forgotten for the next which is easily forgotten for the next one. The small apple on the ground already is the one that he worked so hard to get in the picture above. The apple in the process of being thrown to the ground is one that bret just picked for him : ).
hunting for the best one...
found it!
mmmmmm....yummy

Labor Day at the Lake

We had a great long weekend at the lake. It was a random weather weekend with one really nice afternoon, one sort of nice afternoon and a few cold nights, but we had a lot of fun just being together : )! Here are a few hundred pictures to prove it!
Our future DJ Helping Daddy build a really great campfire. Daddy got sticks, and Evan gathered mulch!

This might be my new favorite Evan picture. He is cracking up at me because I just stuck my head and camera through the slats in the stairs.
It may be cold, but you can always have fun playing peek-a-boo!
Evan and I hung out with Elizabeth while her Mommy got in a workout. I think at this point he wants me to distract her so that he can steal all her food.
Now he is telling her "HEY girl, if you don't drink that milk, I WILL." He means it too because he had just drained her first sippy cup of milk.
And now they are having a moment of teething bonding
VERY excited about his Labor Day weekend boat ride! You just can't tell because Mommy did a poor job of putting on his hat as he was running away : )

Just hanging out with Grandpa Wayne in the back of the boat.

Loving the boat ride! He was pointing out all the buoys (or balls in Evan's world) to daddy..the entire time yelling "OOOOHHH BALL!"
Just couldn't fight it any longer. He did put up a solid fight though! He actually fell asleep sitting straight up. This is the first of many sleeping on the boat ride pictures...
BOOOONS! AKA water balloons. He would pop them just about as fast as I could fill them, but he had a blast playing with them.
Classic Evan and Elizabeth picture from the weekend. Side by side playing. Minimal interaction : )
FINALLY some pool weather! You know its cold if even E doesn't want to spend his entire day in the water.
Teaching Grammy and Great Gma Shirley how to read...
Being silly with Uncle Phil
Four generations in front of the cabin. Evan is thrilled about this picture

Ready, Aim, FIRE!

Turns out that Grandpa Wayne can't be blamed for ALL the bad habits that Evan has. Daddy has played a part too.
Its SOOOO funny to spray Mommy with the hose.
Getting ready--
Taking Aim...

Then getting a little TOO into spraying me with water...He has some good intentions with that hose too. He does a great job watering the flowers...and the fence.
