this isn't new knowledge, but evan picked out the book "love you forever" the last two nights to read at bedtime and it made me think of how my little boy grew...he grew and he grew in just two short years ; ). sidenote - i also started crying at the end of the book...so, now evan thinks it is a funny book because daddy started busting out laughing which made evan laugh.

Easter

We spent Easter weekend with Grammy and Grandpa. We played outside (the small portion of time that it was raining!), colored eggs, hunted for eggs and went to church. We must have done a good job prepping Evan for the Easter Bunny because not more than a few minutes after he woke up he was bouncing off the walls saying "Easter Bunny! Easter Bunny came!".

Learning how to hit the ball with Daddy We started off very clean and organized coloring eggsThen I wrecked it because I started dipping my egg and just holding it with my fingers or dumping coloring over it with a spoon. Evan instantly ditched his clean and organized way and went to town which resulted in him mixing most of the colors togetherEaster Bunny came!!!

Weekend Pics

Bret had a bachelor party this weekend, so Evan and I spent a few days at Grammy and Grandpas house. Uncle Phil was there for a wedding, so we also got to celebrate his birthday a couple of days early with him!

While there, Evan prepped for our Disney trip by watching Mickey's Clubhouse with Uncle Phil's giant Mickey. And, I can't promise that this will be the last picture of Evan's room, but we also added one more thing this weekend. 80 Degrees, Glucose and DISNEY!!!!!

It was a wonderful day on Sunday! 80+ degrees and not a cloud in the sky, AND I could still see the bones in my ankles! Hooray for no swelling in my legs and hands yet!. Bret ran, I took Tillie on a walk, and Evan ran around in his swimsuit for most of the afternoon. I can't wait until we have nice weather like this consistently...especially since the lousy weather we had the last few weeks ripped a hole in the bottom of Evan's "indoor" pool!

Evan also helped mow the yard (side note - the mower is definitely NOT on)So pretty! And who says you can't accessorize with little boys : )

And on Monday, I had my 28 week appointment for Baby Girl Govert. So far, I have gained 4 less pounds than when I was pregnant with Evan, and I am measuring at 28 weeks (measured 30 weeks with Evan at 28 weeks). I also passed my glucose test with flying colors, so I'm super excited NOT to have to go back for the 3 hour test. It just doesn't sound like a ton of fun.

We also booked our first trip to Disney this week!!!!!! We are going at the beginning of May for a week, and Grammy and Grandpa are coming along for the trip. Bret and I have been total nerds, and are pouring over recommended Disney travel books to schedule our days. It will be Bret and Evan's first time to Disney. Well, technically, it will be Bret's second time, but when you are running a marathon that just happens to cut through the parks, I don't think it counts.

Evan Room Progress

Transitioning Evan to his big bed has been nothing shy of an adventuring. Each night has been unique and while frustrating in the moment, Bret and I have definitely had more than a few laughs over Evan's antics to get us upstairs. We learned very quickly that the "preferred" method of not talking and walking the toddler back to their bed was not going to work with Evan. SO, after some Mommy counseling from a friend who has a son less than two months older than Evan and some strategies from Bret and I, we decided gate at the door and not going back was our plan of attack.

Night 1 - Evan standing at his door yelling, "Mommy - POOPY. Mommy - Potty. MOMMY POOPY POTTY"! I finally peeked in only to find him completely in the nude, but nothing in the potty. He proceeded to do this 3 more times. Lesson #1 for Mommy and Daddy - poopy potty is a trick!

Night 2 - Same old trick but we didn't fall for it. Approximately 10 minutes of Evan having a meltdown, and we find him fast asleep (but still in his pjs!) in his doorway

Night 3 - Still trying the poopy trick, we still didn't give in. We find him asleep COMPLETELY NAKED in his door way. Lesson #2 for Mommy and Daddy - Evan can't go to bed in a sleeper because he can and will take it off

Night 4 - No poopy trick, no crying, and no getting out of bed! Fingers crossed that we will continue to have more of these nights!

And more pics of the great bed with this weekend's project...shelves and bookshelves. Evan helped me with the bookshelves - they are made out of vinyl gutters, and he held the gutter while I cut two 2' sections. I'm kind of obsessed : ).

Last Weekend

Uncle Phil came to visit so that he could play my birthday gift (Wii) ...I mean see Evan. Meanwhile, Evan, Grandpa Wayne, Grammy and I built Evan's bed. Really, Grandpa and Grammy built the bed, and I chased Evan around all day! Luckily it was a nice (although rather windy) weekend!

Making a water slideFilling up the bucket to water the plants! SUCH a great helper...hopefully he still enjoys this task in the summer when the plants actually need the water.I took more pictures of the finished bed, but for some reason they have disappeared off the camera?? E - man looks a bit wild after his bath...clearly enjoying naked time ; )! Tillie and Bret clearly thinks that this new addition is actually for them. I will definitely have to work on getting better pictures this awesome bed!

Shooting hoops with Uncle Phil. This helps Evan burn of some steam during the March Madness games when he got frustrated with the players for not shooting. And, I'm not sure, but I think he might have a better shooting % than Butler in the final game ; ). Translation at the end of the clip...he is saying "I made it".
