California Babies

2012 is the year of vacations and trips! We started in March with Bret going with his dad and my dad and brother to the Vegas NASCAR race. Since Daddy was taking a trip, the kids and I decided to plan a trip to California to visit Kate, Brian and Zoe. Grammy tagged along (we didn't have to twist her arm too much) to help out and visit as well.

Evan and Grace did absolutely great on the long flights. 3 out of 4 I got compliments on how well behaved and pleasant they were. This was by far the easiest flight I have had with Evan. He was SUPER excited to fly on the plane, and he sat by the window the whole time. We lucked out with a clear day to fly out, so he was able to see lots of cool things. He would comment on the small cars and trucks a lot saying "awwww, mommy, they look like baby cars and trucks". He was also his usual Mr. Social, and chatted happily with the lady that sat behind us on the flight out.

I made him a play mat the week/night before we left, and he was really excited when I showed him all of the new toys and the mat for the first time on the flight. Well, excited and played with it for about 5 minutes. Then, he noticed Grammy brought her iPad. The play mat and toys were packed in the suitcase on the flight back : ). On Day 1, we jumped right into our planned activities with a trip to a paint your own pottery studio. Kate and Brian had given Grammy a plate with Zoe's footprints when she was born, and Grammy now wanted me to paint her plates for Evan and Zoe. Since the kids would not be content to watch me paint two plates, Evan and Zoe got to "choose" (read heavily influenced by moms) a piece to paint. No one was shocked when E chose the monster truck : )...he is obsessed with them. And, NOW, I'm obsessed with pottery painting. My never will sit for longer than 5 minutes sat. quietly painting. for over an hour.
Then, it was off for some love from Zoe and a quick lunch at Pizza My Heart
