Why is E in underwear? Well, in the moving process, not only did Evan rediscover some of his old toys, but also he rediscovered summer clothes. When too many tantrums to count were thrown after tense negotiations regarding what clothes he would be wearing when leaving the house, the shorts were hidden on a very high spot in the closet. In protest, he is now only wearing underwear or shorts and underwear.
Grace's favorite new toy that she discovered while helping me unpack the pantry. It has a lid AND a cord...nothing could be better.
and her new pose. my little gal that had zero interest in moving for the first 7.5 months of her life has become much more intrigued about moving around. she really would like to crawl and pull herself up, but hasn't quite worked up the strength. instead, she tends to do a little bit of a face plant, but she comes out of it nicely by quickly kicking her legs up and rolling onto her belly or her back.

She Hearts Paper
grace and evan might like the task of getting everything out of the boxes a bit more than their parents. today we worked a little bit in the basement, and evan lit up like christmas morning as he remembered each and every toy he pulled out of the boxes. grace had a ball playing in the 8 billion sheets of paper that also came out of each box!

Life in Ft Wayne
Life in the hotel wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Bret, the kids and I fell into a nice routine, and for the first time in several weeks, Evan started napping again! It might have had something to do with hour plus he spent swimming every morning.
Now that Grace is able to sit up on her own, Evan has really started to enjoy playing with her. The bad part is that he sometimes think she is a little bit more stable than she really is, so Grace has taken a few tumbles in the last couple of weeks.
This nap must have been a rough one! This was before we moved rooms...initially we were in the smallest hotel room EVER. We were told every room had the same layout, but then, Bret did some investigating (read peeking in rooms while the maids were cleaning) and discovered the same layout definitely doesn't mean the same square footage. So, he was able to get us moved to a new room that was probably 4 times bigger than our last room.
Pretty girl! Her hair is WILD now, so we are doing our best to pin it down/back. The new stuff coming in sticks straight up!
Oh Evan. He is so much fun, and he never stops making us laugh with the things that he says and does. He loves showing his muscles these days....
and he has to pick his own clothes out these days. he changes his mind on what he wants to wear approximately every 30 minutes though. this shirt he just HAD to put on because it was his work shirt, like Daddy. He grabbed it, said, "I'm going to put on my work shirt and go to work. Its my work shirt like Daddy's work shirt. Its fancy". He also called his black shorts that he is currently wearing his fancy shorts. Might need to work on the definition of fancy? This one can't wait until summer because he will not take these shorts off.

and our pool time! grace would happily play with her toys for an hour while Evan and I swam in the pools
and, she was a happy baby the whole time! whenever she got bored with one toy, she just tossed it to the side and grabbed a new one from her bag.
BUT, now we are going to move into a new house, and the kids couldn't be more excited! If this was a video, you would see Evan jumping up and down screaming WELCOME HOME! He is going to be a little disappointed when he remembers he can't go swimming whenever he wants to, and he is going to be really disappointed when he realizes that we are putting furniture in the big empty rooms that he has been running around in like a wild animal.
and, since we got the house on Friday, but the movers couldn't move our stuff until Monday. Grandpa Jeff and Grandma Pam came over to help us (read Bret) paint the kids' rooms. Jeff and Bret worked like crazy for two straight days, and I think the rooms look great.
Pam did a wonderful job entertaining Evan. Not sure what they did all day long, but he had a blast playing with her. Pretty sure she is sleeping like a baby right now after spending two full days playing with Evan who only goes 100 miles per hour.
After two days of painting, Grace is loving her new paint color and her new room. She's a pretty lucky lady - two rooms and two different colors of pink and she isn't even 8 months old yet!

Its Moving Weather
On January 30th, our house was overtaken by a moving and crating company in the morning. By early afternoon, everything was packed and/or crated and ready to go. On January 31st, the crew was back bright and early! By early afternoon, Bret and I were standing in an empty house. I was amazed at how quickly they packed and loaded everything. I packed about 6 boxes of cleaning products, photo albums, china and jewelry and it took me over a week. It was sad to leave our first house...we had a lot of wonderful memories there. Now, we are looking forward to even more memories in Ft. Wayne!
Since our reservations for the new hotel weren't until the end of the week, the kids and I spent a few days at my parent's house. The weather was awesome, so we spent as much time as possible outside. Below was my attempt at getting a picture of the kids...
Since our reservations for the new hotel weren't until the end of the week, the kids and I spent a few days at my parent's house. The weather was awesome, so we spent as much time as possible outside. Below was my attempt at getting a picture of the kids...#1 Evan telling Grace to turn around so I could take the picture
#2 and we are posing. but grace was more interested in her sun on the exersaucer.
#3 evan notices that grace was not looking at the camera, so he tries to encourage her to look up for a picture. grace is so saying "i am NOT looking at that camera".
We eventually got her to come around and smile for a picture. Personally, I think she is pretty excited about the new toy that I made for her the day before. Oh how I will miss the sewing machine and my projects these next couple of weeks.....
Two In One
Bath time just got a whole lot easier in this household...which happens to be currently in a hotel. pray that these next couple of weeks fly by so that we can finally be in our new home!!
I guess by easier I mean they are both in the same spot at the same time to give a bath instead of Grace being in the infant/baby tub on the sink and Evan in the tub. What will not be easier is being demonstrated in this picture....notice how all of Evan's cars have been placed (by him) right in front of Grace and he is generously offering her one to hold...which means that it ends up in her mouth. pretty sure that is not an acceptable teether. evan, who has all his 20 teeth, has the baby toy in his mouth.
Swim Pics
I found pictures of one of our swimming experiences from the first Ft. Wayne hotel on my phone. I forgot all our swim suits, so the kids and I got to go on a swim suit shopping spree while Bret finished up at work. E picked out his own suit...can you tell : ). Since the purchase he has also dug this suit out of his closet countless times to wear during the day. in fishers or in new castle. where there is no pool.
our chunk-a-monk
e was a little timid the first time in the water, but after a few trips he was back to his fish like ways. we have been practicing kicking, paddling with our hands and reaching for the wall along with his absolute favorite - jumping in!
