36 week appt.

Ahh...the end of 2 week appointments and the beginning of weekly visits to the Dr! We saw the last Dr in the group today, so now, regardless of when I have the baby, I will have had at least 1 appointment with the Dr. This was also my very first check on progress which is little at this point. The baby is still very healthy and head down, so we are at least taking a step in the right direction. BUT, I have not progressed in terms of effacing and dilating. This is actually slightly good news because the baby isn't considered "full-term" for another 5 days! SO, lets all hope for some progress by the next appointment which is in the afternoon on March 6!!!!

Pregnant pedestrians stop traffic!

With the cold weather, the ice and the snow, I have done the majority of my exercising indoors...typically walking on the treadmill. BUT, for the past week, we have had great weather, so I have been able to venture out and take Tillie on some MUCH needed walks. Walking tends to help Tillie be not so crazy. We have a loop that we do...no idea how long it is, but it takes us roughly 50 minutes to walk it. We also have to cross the "busy" street in Mariemont twice; the first time we cross usually ends up being right when everyone is coming home from work. And, for the past 6 days, as soon as I turn and make a move towards the road, cars stop in both directions! I am not usually crossing at an intersection, a stop light or even a stop sign, but every single time I try to cross the cars in both directions stop and let me go. This has never happened to me before. When I would run and have to cross this street, I have actually had to wait for more than 5 minutes for a break in the cars which don't even slow down! So, the point of this is, if you need to cross a street in a hurry, grab a lady that is almost 9 months pregnant and the cars will magically stop!

34 week appt.

So, we are on the 2 week rotation! This week was a fast appointment. The Dr. guessed that he was about 4.5 pounds, and that he was head down (YAY!!!). From what she could tell by listening to his heartbeat in different spots on my belly and from actually feeling around my belly, his head is down and his back is running along the right side of my belly, so he has his butt up and his feet are kicked out towards the right side of my belly. SO, he is a little turned around on which direction he is supposed to be facing, but I'm sure he has more room that way. All I really cared about was that he was either starting to get his head down or was already there. Keep your fingers crossed that he is cool with hanging out upside down around 5 more weeks! Everything else was still looking great, and this appointment was the last appointment for a tummy check. Next week they will actually start trying to feel for the head and let me know the progress. Everyone at work is swearing that he dropped, but I guess the Dr. will be the best judge of that!

We'll I'm super pumped! It sounds like the Dr. appointments are going to get exciting and maybe start to give us a little bit of an indication on when he is going to make his grand entrance! The next appointment is Feb. 27 at 9:45, and I FINALLY get to see the one Dr. that I haven't seen yet. So, now I know that no matter when I go into labor, I will have at least seen the Dr. once before! In March, I will go every week until I have the little guy, who is hopefully still going to be little...hopefully the lbs that I'm gaining are mainly pounds on me rather than full pounds on him!

The nursery is nearly complete!!

Behold the World's SOFTEST Chair

So, today I came home to a great surprise! Outside our door was a gigantic box, and inside the box was quite possibly the world's softest chair. This glider and ottoman is a gift from Jeff and Pam, and I have to say, if I have to be strapped to anything at 2-3 hour intervals for 20 minutes to an hour at a time, hand's down, I pick this chair! I am also not promising that I will get out of the chair after a late night/early morning feeding...seriously, it is THAT comfortable. Thank you, thank you, thank you Jeff and Pam!!! Bret and I can't wait to use it in less than 7 weeks!

Happy Bday Grant Holbrook!!!

Baby Boy Govert's future friend, Grant Monroe Holbrook, was born on Jan. 30, 2009 at 5:57 p.m.. He weighed 7.05 lbs and was 20" long! He joins his proud parents, Jacob & Kelly Holbrook and big sis Olivia. Kelly and I can't wait to get our boys together (along with another coworker Vicki and her son Damian) during our overlapping maternity leave (hopefully we have some overlapping maternity leave!). Walks with the strollers have already been planned out!
