Happy Valentine's Day!

We had craft time to celebrate Valentine's day this weekend. We ventured out on Saturday to buy mugs so that I could make gifts for all the great teacher's at Evan's daycare for Valentine's Day, and we ended up buying a couple extra. Bret had the great idea to let Evan go to town on an extra mug...hmmm maybe a new family tradition since we break about a glass a day anyway ; ).

I can already tell it will be a masterpiece...very serious and very into this art project. also very messy, so we had to lose the new shirt from aunt kate so it wouldn't get paint on it. kindly disregard the disaster that is our kitchen in the background of this picture.

the finished product. i wrote evan ~ valentine's day 2011 around the bottom of the mug....in case you were wondering for a moment if evan could already write his name ; )

i asked if he wanted to take pictures with his valentine's day mug, and he very enthusiastically said yes. he would think about where he wanted to pose for the pic and for several minutes had me chasing him around snapping pictures in all of his selected spots.we are also practicing smiling on command for pictures. sometimes he does great, sometimes we get smiles, and sometimes....we get this...the rest of our valentine's day projects....oreo balls for the teachers and toddlers in evan's classroomcards for all his friends in the toddler roommugs filled with hot cocoa and marshmallows for the teachers and trail mix for the toddler room partyall of the mugs after the came out of the oven...you have to bake them so the ink doesn't come off when you use them and wash them...
